Spending all our time tied to the dock has allowed us to catch up on our to-do list, so much so that we might leave here with nothing left to fix! Though Murphy’s Law will surely strike again, it feels good to have made so much progress on all the small things we’ve been putting off fixing onboard. Having guests aboard reminded us again how much the boat needs regular maintenance. Monthly, daily, weekly. If not performed in time, bigger problems may develop. However, having visitors makes us want to go explore new shores and swim, snorkel, and paddle around.

Certainly our journey through the San Juan Islands was a wonderful start to our adventures, but with nearly fifteen years worth of accumulated ablative antifouling below the waterline of Rua Hatu, the most recent of which was already two years old, we were in desperate need of a bottom job before we crossed any significant expanse of water.
