After ten months exploring the shores of Baja California and three months in La Paz, we leave for the mainland of Mexico. Our first landfall is Bahia Matanchen with the cute little town of San Blas.

I just returned from three weeks in Europe visiting family and friends in both Germany and Croatia. This trip included my usual stops in Munich, Cres, and Buzet with day trips to various other places. Leaving balmy warm Mexico for chilly Europe took some getting used to but I was fortunately didn’t experience the usually persistent Bura wind conditions while in Cres, this kept the temperatures mild. Nice enough even to go for a boat ride.

It was late December and we dropped anchor near a small fishing village. The sleepy village lies at the foot of a 750 meter tall old volcano. Rust, orange, and sand colors prevail with grey streaks resembling ash avalanches long ago rolling down the hills of Isla de Cedros.
