Here at Marina Chiapas there is not much happening these days besides heat, humidity, and the occasional thunderstorm.
Marina Chiapas is far from the next town, Tapachula, approximately 30 minutes by car. Tapachula has almost everything the spoiled capitalist from the United States is looking to snack on, play with, or use to fix the boat. Jokes aside, Tapachula offers big stores that allow for cost-conscious provisioning of food.
That being said, we want to give a shout out to the glorious service of grocery delivery. They allows us to avoid the heat, having to squeeze in tight cars, and hauling the groceries around. We make full use of this by ordering large bottles of sparkling water, orange juice, pet food, and cat litter online and get them delivered directly to the marina dock gates a few hours later. Even just getting those groceries aboard and putting them away makes us break out in sweats to soak our clothes. But once everything is stowed we go cool off at the pool with a nice cold beer. Imagine we would’ve had to go to town to pick this up! Way too hot!
Another way to spend the time is to visit a rum distillery and watch our tour guide, a young lady, drink all the tasters without hesitation or signs of intoxication. Afterwards we asked her how many tours per day she gives with the response being one to two. Imagine, eight shots, twice per day, while answering tourists’ questions. Impressive!
